My Joy is Home

img_0278Yes, my Joy came home on October 1 as scheduled.  She enoyed her visit to Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.  But, she is more tired then she thinks she should be. We are beginning to travel short distances from Greencroft.  Joyce brought with her a jar of honey collected by bees from the flowers of gardens of the mountains of Switzerland.  She also brought a bell of the kind worn by Swiss cows as they returned from the mountain home pastures.  It reminded me of the old story of Heidi.

img_0274Joyce was also in the wine country of France where she purchased a small bottle of cherry wine to bring with her and is sharing its unique flavor with me when we eat popcorn on Sunday evenings.  She wants me to assure you that we don’t drink wine as a habit.  It is only on very rare ocassions that we drink the special wines that happen to come our way.

My key chain with the heart from Munnich

But much more special for me is the key chain with a heart she brought me as a token of her affection for me. Greencroft living requires only two keys of me.  One key is for my apt. door and another is for my mailbox.

I’ve posted an update on the “health tips”  topic in the discussion forum. By going there you will learn that I’ve gone down from 233 to 217 lb. on a weight loss journey since leaving Arizona and how I’ve done it slowly and deliberately. Next Sunday will introduce a new schedule for me.  I will teach Sunday School for the next three Sundays for those of us in Central Manor.  I taught a class soon after coming here and decided then that I had taught my last SS class.  So when asked again recently I answered with a firm “no”.  But an inner voice rebuked me, so here I am trying it again.

This morning I went to the Borderlands group at the College Mennonite Church.  Individual group members hold different degrees of knowing, believing, etc.  The brother beside me is a strong believer in the presence of God’s Spirit everwhere.  He and you deserve a link to a song sent to me from Arizona.  The theme is that all God’s creatures have a right to the choir.  It is a delightful song. Click here to hear.  It is celtic.

About Martin Lehman

I was born 92 years ago, the son of a Mennonite pastor and organic gardener in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. At age 10 I was baptized as a member of the Marion Mennonite Church. I own the "Old Fool" moniker because I want to walk the Jesus Way even though the world and much of the church takes me as a fool for doing so. In my life I have moved from being a young conservative to an elderly radical. I tell that story in My Faith Journey posted on my website.
