Yesterday afternoon Rachel was in downtown Goshen when she fell and injured her left knee. She will learn the extent of the injury on Tuesday.  She is at home in bed giving her body a rest.  Today when I visited her she gave me the thoughts below prepared for a devotional at the recent Stoltzfus family reunion at The Nature Place in Colorado:

We have greeted this morning with wonder and gladness,

Filled with gratitude for the rugged beauty

of this wilderness cathedral.

We are in a wilderness

This wilderness packaged for our comfort here–

Here at The Nature Place.

We gaze around us and recognize ourselves

and all of our Stoltzfus family

as part of a much larger family

of creatures and constellations,

vegetation and vistas.

You, the creative energy that brought all of us into being:

we praise you.

About Martin Lehman

I was born 92 years ago, the son of a Mennonite pastor and organic gardener in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. At age 10 I was baptized as a member of the Marion Mennonite Church. I own the "Old Fool" moniker because I want to walk the Jesus Way even though the world and much of the church takes me as a fool for doing so. In my life I have moved from being a young conservative to an elderly radical. I tell that story in My Faith Journey posted on my website.
