The Old Fool is doing his wash, going shopping, and packing his bags for a trip to Pennsylvania. You may remember that there were three Krady sisters who married three Lehman boys. You may know that the three sisters slipped away from us in a five month time frame. Rhoda the first on January 3, then Ruth, followed by Naomi.
On Monday the extended family received the following email from Judy, the daughter of Paul and Naomi:
“My father, Paul J. Lehman, died peacefully in his sleep at 10:40 PM on Saturday, August 11. We had a small family gathering at Mellingers’ with a Burial service led by Pilgrim’s Mennonite friends on Sunday 12 noon. We are planning a Memorial Service for Dad on August 26 at 2 PM for those that want to come, at the Welcoming Place MCC in Akron, same place we had my Mother’s service. He was very ready to go and had said his good-byes on several of the last visits we had with him, having given his last wishes as well as his individual blessings to many of us, his family.”
Now, the first of the three Lehman boys, Paul J. Lehman, has left us. He and his wife, Naomi, elected not to be embalmed and so he was buried on the day following his death to be beside the remains of his Naomi in the Mellingers Mennonite Cemetery.
The Old Fool plans to travel to Pennsylvania with Rhoda’s sister, Lois, and her husband, Roy Hartzler. So there will be an approximate three-five day period in which The Old Fool will not be posting daily on the web page as heretofore.
You should know that TOF has been addng script and other refinements to the “pictures” page. If you are interested in the pictures related to the books click on this link .
Thanks for writing and keeping us up to date.
The Lehman boys: brothers? cousins? or ?
The other two Lehmans are first cousins, and I am not related to them.
I loved seeing all the old photos you posted, sorry to hear of your brothers passing.
As my daughter said my 84 year old fathers death, I see from watching you and your siblings, that there is never a “right” time to give up someone you love.
Blessings and saftey to you on your trip to Penna. Freda Zehr
Safe Travels!
Sorry to learn of all the grief you have needed to process over the recent few months.
I hope someone offered you lodging while you were in PA. If we have known we could have hosted you. As you know we do not live far from the former EMM guest house where you stayed some years ago. May the shalom of God be yours.
Shalom, Norman
We lodged in the MCC Africa House and some annonymous person payed for it so we were well cared for.
